When people hear the word collection the first things that come to mind would be items like stamps, quarters, shoes, CDs, etc... So it becomes difficult to say what you collect when your collection doesn't fall into the usual parameters that are expected of collections. Such parameters would be physical objects, several versions of what is essentially the same item, and monetary possibilities.
So it's safe for me to say that my collections are not what would be called typical when you think about collections.
I would say currently that I have two major collections right at the moment and both are atypical. The first would be collection of what is essentially events and places in my life. I have collected an assortment of items such as pictures, brochures, etc... that I have found throughout my life. I have a box full of stuff from my New York trip in High School and just recently I have new pictures and items from my South Korea trip to add to this collection. Their are many assorted items from my past that I have collected to use as a way to remember many of these events in my past.
My other collection is composed of pictures, calenders and models of Star Trek Federation starships. I have been a fan of Star Trek since the days when Syfy was called SciFi and they showed the original series (TOS) episodes. Star Trek is a major staple in my family, starting with my mom who watched TOS when she was kid when they reaired their episodes on CBS. My dad also watches but not as much as my mom. So since my childhood I have watched the shows and movies of Star Trek and fell in love with the ships and the universe that has become my favorite fictional world.
So those are my two major collections. Along the way in this course I will probably discover other collections that I have subconsciously collected.
