Exploration #31 Variation #1

Try not to laugh, but I was at the bar the other night and while waiting to pay my tab I looked around the whole bar and noticed how much I could hear. Most of the bar-goers were present for the Thursday Night Football game so there were obvious applause and cheers like, "Yes!" or "Go! Go! Go!" coming from all areas of the bar both in the back and near me to my right. Also there were negative reactions to the game, most of which may be best left to the imagination. Yet, there were definitely other people in the bar that were there to enjoy other aspects than simply the football game. I heard on my left a small child beg for quarters to presumably play an arcade game. I heard a gentlemen that was complaining about the quantity of his fries as I walked past him back to my table. Not all sounds were human voices either; the sizzle of the stove top, the crashing of pans in the kitchen and bottles behind the bar. I even caught the "CHING!" sound as the waiter hit the button on the cash register.

  1. Bars have arcade games? Show how much I go out. It surprises me how many people go to bars to watch football games. Why not stay at home and eat, drink, and watch the game at a lower price? Bars are always so noisy when a game is on, and I can't stand being in there with everyone screaming at the TV. Nice observations, though!
